The ARL addresses the key military technologies for Army and Department
of Defense programs.
of Standards and Technology (NIST)
Founded in 1901, NIST is a non-regulatory federal agency within the U.S.
Commerce Department's Technology Administration. NIST's mission is to
develop and promote measurements, standards, and technology to enhance
productivity, facilitate trade, and improve the quality of life. NIST
carries out its mission in four cooperative programs:
- Advanced Technology Program
- Baldrige National Quality Program
- Manufacturing Extension Partnership
- NIST Laboratories
The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) is the Navy's corporate laboratory.
NRL conducts a broadly based multidisciplinary program of scientific research
and advanced technological development directed toward maritime applications
of new and improved materials, techniques, equipment, system, and ocean,
atmospheric, and space sciences and related technologies.
Telecommunications, and Radioscience Laboratory (STARlab)
Research areas in the STARlab share a common basis in the study and exploitation
of electromagnetic wave phenomena. Electromagnetic waves are used in remote
sensing systems, communications systems, and other applications.
Part of the Physical Sciences Research Division of Bell Laboratories,
the Wireless Research Lab, innovation engine of Lucent Technologies, is
dedicated to providing the science and technology behind the next generation
of Wireless Networks that will make low cost voice and data services available
around the world.
